DirecTV - DirecTV home page. DISH Network - DISH Network home page. Wikipedia - information about the Satellite TV industry, its history and more. HowStuffWorks - an information site about how Satellite TV works. Details about technology, programming, encryption, satellite orbits and much more. A must see for Satellite TV enthusiasts of any level. LyngSat - they provide very detailed information about the location and broadcast frequencies of all global orbiting telecommunications satellites. Kaptain Satellite - they compete with our 13Donuts.com website. Like us, they're an information site that aims to help consumers in making an informed Satellite TV choice that best fits their own personal needs. We think they're very good at what they do and are worth visiting if you're still undecided about the choice of Satellite TV providers. Satellite Guys - an active and very detailed forum community that discusses all aspects of the Satellite TV industry. HughesNet - DirecTV used to offer bundled Satellite Internet access (like cable or dial-up, but via satellite!) called DirecWay, but that unit was spun off into a separate business and rebranded as HughesNet. Rural locations, where cable and DSL isn't available, still find this a top choice for Internet access. It's also popular with the RV crowd. TiVo - TiVo invented the Digital Video Recorder (DVR) and made TV fit our personal schedules, instead of the reverse! DirecTV and DISH Network have both had up and down relationships with TiVo and have developed their own brand of DVRs for their Satellite TV subscribers that were obviously influenced by the original TV time shifter! |
